Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to ask Rob or Andy anything or a veteran who has been here before should be a great resource as well

Yes. You may move your ball up to 6 inches in any area that is not a hazard (e.g., areas without yellow stakes, red stakes, or sand). For balls that land beyond white stakes (out of bounds), you must take a penalty stroke and drop laterally.

Yes, you will have to hit the Persimmon wood and play that ball once per round.  There is also a proxy and .25 points to be won by doing so.

Yes, for 2025 please keep the paper scorecard and return to Rob after your round.  There will be a section to provide the match score as well.

No — skins are completely optional. There will be a $20 buy-in for the practice round and a one-time $60 buy-in covering the morning rounds. Participation is 100% optional.

Yes, 100% you should bring a cooler filled with whatever you'd like for dinners and social time on the patio.  You however cannot take that onto the course for play. (water & tea provided)

After the first four rounds, the team captains choose the Sunday head-to-head pairings. The leading team assigns holes 1–18, and the trailing team then selects which players will play each hole.

Before each round, the captains will choose one match (two on Sunday) where the points are worth double — this is their “confidence pick.” The twist: a captain can’t select the same player for a confidence pick more than once.

Bring your rain gear and cold-weather gear — if the course is open, we play. In 2024, we played in fog so thick you couldn’t see more than 20 feet. If it’s open, we’re out there.

First, review the Rules document on this site.
Beyond that, whatever you and your group agree on is fine — each match is its own unique game.
If anything comes up that isn’t covered, we can discuss it after the round to make a ruling.

We play a Ryder Cup–style Match Play event, and each round is different:

  • Friday & Saturday Mornings – Best Ball: Everyone plays their own ball, and the lowest net score on the hole wins it for the team.

  • Friday & Saturday Afternoons – 2-Man Scramble: Both teammates hit, pick the best shot, and keep playing from there. Lowest net score wins the hole.

  • Sunday – Singles Match Play: One-on-one showdowns. Lowest net score takes the hole.

Each match is worth 3 points: 1 point for the front nine, 1 point for the back nine, and 1 point for the full 18. So even if a match starts rough, there’s always something to play for after the turn.

Every round also has 5 proxies: 4 closest-to-the-pin contests on the par 3s and 1 mandatory Persimmon long drive. Each proxy is worth 0.25 points toward both team and individual totals.

Captains also get a confidence pick each round, which doubles the points for one selected match (see that FAQ). Those bonus points count only toward team totals, not individual standings.
