How we got started
The Persimmon Cup began in 2020 when Andy and Rob set out to create a fresh and competitive golf event centered around camaraderie, tradition, and fun. What started with 12 friends has grown into a 36-player annual showdown, now entering its 6th year. Named as a nod to the classic era of golf, the Cup features two iconic teams—the Great White Sharks and the Golden Bears—honoring legends of the game.
Held each year at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana, the tournament features a five-round, Ryder Cup-style format with best ball, scramble, and head-to-head matches. Team captains, chosen from the previous year’s MVP and Rookie of the Year, draft their squads, adding a layer of strategy and excitement.
As a tribute to the tournament’s namesake and a playful nod to golf’s roots, each day includes one hole where every player is required to tee off using a persimmon driver. This wrinkle brings nostalgia, laughs, and a unique challenge that players look forward to each year.
At its heart, the Persimmon Cup is about bringing people together for a weekend of unforgettable golf, spirited competition, and lasting memories.
